Established in 1997 in memory of Carl Herz, who contributed to the creation of the Institut des sciences mathématiques, the Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves to fund ISM activities. All donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible. Since the Foundation is managed by the ISM, there are no administrative costs. All donations are therefore used exclusively to fund the following activities.
Accromath
Accromath is a mathematics magazine distributed free-of-charge to high schools and cegeps in Quebec. Its primary aim is to interest young people in the mathematical sciences by providing them with modern, lively and relevant material. All donations to the magazine help ensure the future of the magazine while enabling us to respond to the growing demand of the readership.
Carl Herz Prize
The Carl Herz Prize recognizes the importance of research contributions made by a doctoral student in mathematics or statistics at one of the ISM member universities. The prize helps launch their careers and is beneficial to the whole community.
Scholarships
In the long term, the Foundation hopes to offer scholarships that would be entirely funded by the interest generated on the capital. If you would like more information, please contact us.
